Return to Sleepy Hollow at Fort Wilderness

Just gather ’round and I’ll elucidate on what goes on outside when it gets late…

A phantom spirit has been seen out in the pine and cypress woods of Lake Buena Vista, Florida. He is the bane of one Ichabod Crane, and the terror of the little village of Sleepy Hollow. He is the Headless Horseman.

This autumn, Guests of Walt Disney World can experience the Headless Horseman up close and personal at the “Return To Sleepy Hollow” event. Here’s what you need to know:

1. What Is It?

The “Return to Sleepy Hollow” experience is a group viewing of the 1949 film “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” at the Tri-Circle-D stables, along with an up-close photo opportunity with the Headless Horseman. In addition, you might just see some galloping ghosts. This year, there is an additional feature: the “Van Tassel Dessert Party,” named after the Van Tassel family from the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The party takes place at 9 p.m.

2. How Much Does It Cost?

There are three ticket offerings: General, Premium, and Ultimate. The General admission cost is $22 and includes the film viewing and photo opportunity. Premium tickets are $38, and include a few extras, including a goody bag, and a logo cup. The Ultimate ticket runs $60, and gains you admittance to the dessert party. Reservations can be made 180 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-TOUR

3. Where Is It Located?

The event takes place at the Tri-Circle-D stables at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, located at 4510 N. Fort Wilderness Trail, Lake Buena Vista, FL, 32830-1000. The Tri-Circle-D Ranch is located between Pioneer Hall and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ. As with most Disney resorts, the majority of Fort Wilderness is handicapped accessible.

4. When Does It Take Place?

The event takes place on select nights from September 28-October 31. Showtimes are at 8 and 10 p.m. The September events run September 28-30. Event nights in October are 3-7, 10-14, 17-21, 24-31.

5. Souvenirs

As noted, Premium and Ultimate tickets provide Guests with some added bonuses like the logo cup. However, Guests of all ticket levels will receive a commemorative pin.

It’s an incredible experience for Disney fans young and old, but just remember to be careful near the Headless Horseman. After all, They say he’s tired of his flamin’ top. He’s got a yen to make a swap. So he rides one night each year, to find a head in Hollow here….So don’t stop to figure out a plan, you can’t reason with a headless man.
